Photovoltaic (PV) and Energy Storage Systems (ESS) Site Analysis and Installation
Monday, March 13, 2023 (9:00 AM - 12:30 PM) (PDT)
Description
This is intermediate class for anyone interested in understanding the specific issues associated with PV site analysis and system sizing. It focuses on design, installation and support. The objective of this course is to assist participants in evaluating the technical feasibility of a potential PV project planning by presenting design, implementation and support issues that affect site selection and PV installation, while providing participants with simple tools for preliminary system size estimations.
Site analysis topics include estimation of the available solar resource, system orientation, module tilt angles, planning for shade, and evaluating space requirements. We will introduce fundamental tools to participants to complete a solar site analysis using both hardware and software methods including 3D modeling, through hands-on demonstrations, field exercises, and project examples. The topics will include sizing for both photovoltaic and energy storage systems.
The "Basics of Photovoltaic (PV) and Energy Storage Systems (ESS) for Grid Tied Applications" class is a prerequisite for this class.
