This course provides an understanding of resiliency for multifamily residences. This is an important topic as aging infrastructure and climate change impacts affect communities including those that live in multifamily residences. In addition, many of the available incentives and tax credits for resiliency are focusing on equity as a primary qualifying factor. The instructor will present technology solutions for an energy resilient multifamily complex and explain important considerations when analyzing multifamily housing complexes for energy resiliency, such as solar PV and energy storage system sizing, equipment selection and system costs, roof life, EV charger selection, project installation and costs, permitting, tax credits, cost savings, payback and GHG reduction. This course will also describe how electrifying end use technologies at a multifamily residences contributes to energy resiliency and decarbonization, and provide a case study that helps to understand the tradeoffs associated with achieving resiliency at a multifamily complex. In summary, this course will provide multifamily building owners and building professionals an overview of energy resiliency, the importance of resiliency, and how to plan for resiliency in multifamily complexes.
